Advertising CBD & Cannabis on Facebook

Advertising CBD & Cannabis on Facebook

Whatever CBD infused product on the market today; Coffee, Chocolate, Tea, vapes, oils, pet products, treats in short just about everything. A survey completed estimated that 65% of people have tried some sort of cannabis infused product non-psychoactive of course! With an estimated 16 billion Euro market and growing over the next 6 years. If you have a problem modern medicine can’t fix someone will eventually offer you Cannabis.

The Facebook giant following you around has other ideas and most other social media outlets have followed followed suit. CBD is treated as some form of contraband but it isn’t. A local CBD buisness in Ireland went through the whole process of signing up for facebooks ads with the focus on promoting CBD Tea & CBD oil. After setting up CBD tea image add on instagram with a few small cannabis leaves. within about five minutes of putting that ad up, there ad account got shut down.

After reviewing facebooks advertising policy section 4.

Facebooks advertising policies make no mention of Cannabis or CBD or any  sign of that in the company policies is a prohibition against “illegal products or services,” “drugs & drug-related products,” and “unsafe supplements,” the last of which is “as determined by Facebook in its sole discretion.” For Facebook, that “sole discretion” means that CBD is treated the same as any other marijuana derivative, which is a completly bizarre policy for those familiar with this form of Cannabis. And with no public mention of the issue, there’s no way for users to know they’re risking an account ban just by advertising a spa treatment.
